Youth & Family Consultants (YFC) is committed to maintaining high standards of treatment foster parent safety, productivity and reliability. This drug & alcohol policy is designed to promote a safe and productive working environment and a safe healthy environment for youth in this program.

YFC treatment foster parents are required to obey all federal, state and local laws regarding the possession and use of alcoholic beverages.

YFC treatment foster parents are prohibited from consuming, manufacturing, buying, selling, distributing or possessing a controlled substance. Treatment foster parents will be considered in possession of illegal drugs if these substances are found on their personal belongings, home, or in vehicles brought on YFC property - as well as when these substances are found on their persons.

YFC treatment foster parents who fail to disclose promptly and fully all felony convictions, plea bargains and parole/probation terms which involved buying, selling, transportation, manufacture, cultivation, possession or consumption of any controlled substance - including alcohol - may result in the termination of the YFC treatment foster parent contract. Treatment foster parents may also have contracts terminated if they are involved in activities involving illegal drugs or alcohol, which adversely reflects upon YFC or its programs.

Treatment foster parents using prescribed drugs or non-prescription medications, which contain controlled substances will be required to store these medications in a locked cabinet not accessible to program youth. Alcoholic beverages (excluding beer and wine) must be kept in a locked storage area. Beer and wine may be refrigerated and monitored closely by the treatment foster parents.

Treatment foster parents are asked to follow these guidelines in order to maintain their contracts with Youth & Family Consultants.
